Volkswagen Group hasn’t had a roaring success in India with its current portfolio of cars and the worst performing car in the Volkswagen portfolio in India is the luxury sub- 30 lakh sedan segment car, the Volkswagen Passat. This luxury car has not been doing good business in India for the past 11 months despite having a diesel engine under its hood. It is a better equipped car than the other outgoing sub-30 lakh luxury sedan car Honda Accord. But, despite having some good features, the Indian luxury car buyers did not show the kind of affection and faith that they showed on Audi India, Mercedes Benz India and BMW India cars. This is the reason why there were very low sales of the Volkswagen Passat in India. In fact, the Volkswagen Passat is rated higher than the Audi A4 sedan.
Somehow Volkswagen Passat did not strike the right cord with the Indian luxury car buyers as the Audi or Mercedes Benz cars because of the fact that it was not the bread and butter car for Volkswagen as supposed to the luxury cars of Audi or the Mercedes Benz or BMW or Volvo cars. The other luxury car sellers in India offer better discounts and car finances than what Volkswagen offers. Also, the amount of work that they do to pursue the prospect customers and offering extended test drives in not the cup of tea of Volkswagen Motors. The fact that the dealerships of Volkswagen is intent on selling the fast moving models also might have caused a dent to the sales of the Volkswagen Passat.Volkswagen Passat Is Taken Off From VW's Portfolio In India,
