Toyota Motors is having a very good time of it in India as far as the popular luxury SUV is concerned. The slowness in the sales of the cars in the auto industry for the past 10 months has not been a factor as far as sales of the luxury SUV Toyota Fortuner is concerned. Toyota Kirloskar Motors, the Indian subsidiary of the popular Japanese auto manufacturer Toyota Motors, has enjoyed a sales boost of twelve percent for the period April to November 2013 when compared to the sales that it achieved during the same period in 2012. The sales of the luxury SUVs in India have taken a beating after the announcement of the increase in the taxes for the big vehicles. A lot of car manufacturers were not able to sell the estimated number of luxury and premium SUVs in the market after the Union Budget. But, Toyota Fortuner did not see any slackness in its sale and moved ahead in such a way that a total of 11,416 Fortuner’s very sold during the April to November 2013 period.
The Toyota Fortuner has been an in demand vehicle since the car was launched in India and it looks like there has been no downfall in the demand of the car. The premium SUV has been on sale in India since August 2009 and has been doing very good business till date. Fortuner has been facing stiff challenge from Chevrolet Captiva, Mahindra Rexton, Hyundai Santa Fe, Honda CR-V and Ford Endeavor.
