Honda has succeeded in overcoming Mahindra in terms of the cars sales figures of July, 2014 once again. Statistics show that Mahindra could sell merely 14,708 cars as against 15,709 cars from Honda. With these sales, Honda was able to solidify its 3rd position in India behind Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai. It was the diesel models of the Honda City and Amaze that enabled the Japanese car maker to exhibit a sound performance. And the launch of the Mobilio MPV in the diesel variant will give Honda more capacity to maintain its rank for the forthcoming months.
However, you should not write off the Indian automaker, Mahindra just now, especially with the company having a number of products slated to gate unveiled in the coming months. One such product will be the Quanto which features the AMT technology or automated manual gearbox. It is a matter of a few days when the new Quanto will be introduced. After the Quanto, the newer model of the Scorpio, which holds the credit for being the country’s most successful SUV, will be launched. The Scorpio will definitely act as a boost for Mahindra which may even overtake Honda.
The war between the two companies will not end just this year. In 2015, Honda will be unleashing the Jazz and Mahindra has a number of products in its stable. For instance, the U301 MUV and the compact SUV S101 will be launched by Mahindra with an aim of regaining some of its lost ground. An automatic and facelifted model of the XUV500 set to hit the roads nex year will definitely give a lot of power to Mahindra.
