The MU-7 is powered by a diesel engine and is BS4 compliant. The company has tuned the engine for greater fuel efficiency and better engine reliability. “Isuzu Insight” programme helps the customers with after-sales service. The company also aims at reaching proper driving practices to the customers through their educational program. At present, Isuzu have only three dealerships in the country, the third just started a few days back. The company is looking forward to increase the dealership numbers to 60 by 2015-16. The third dealership has been opened in Chennai on 11th December 2013. Hindustan Motors will be doing the local assembly of Isuzu products in India. Isuzu has plans to bring MU-7 and D-Max via the CKD route and it will then get assembled at the Hindustan Motors Plant in Chennai.
The BS3 version of the Isuzu MU-7 is priced at Rs. 22 lakhs for and the BS4 version is priced at Rs. 22.3 lakhs. The Isuzu MU -7 will be competing with vehicles such as Mahindra Ssangyong Rexton, Ford Endeavor and Toyota Fortuner. Among these, the Fortuner is the most selling vehicle. Isuzu has priced MU-7 is priced much lower than the Fortuner to attract the customers. We will have to wait and watch whether the customers will prefer buying a vehicle from a relatively unknown brand like Isuzu or will they prefer to select the market leaders. The liking of the vehicle by Indians will depend mainly on the performance of the vehicle, fuel efficiency, the convenience it offers and the external appearance of the vehicle.
