Nissan will place a new hatchback below the Datsun Go. The Alto rival will be priced between Rs. 2,00,000 and Rs. 3,00,000. Datsun is aiming to sell about 8,000 to 9,000 units of this car every month. It is codenamed as I2. However Datsun will launch the GO and then an MPV based on GO called the GO+ before launching the I2. Nissan has also revealed that the company has no plans to launch an entry-level Datsun sedan. Datsun has started promoting the GO in cities and towns across India through the road show campaign that was kicked off on December 14. Datsun is showing the vehicle in tier 1, 2 and 3 cities apart from the major cities and town.
The company believes that the road show will help them to create brand awareness among the people. Datsun’s fate in Indian market depends on the success of the GO. The Datsun Go is priced less than Rs. 4 lakh in the domestic market. Datsun brand is promoted by Nissan Motors in India and Nissan is very confident that the Datsun brand will click in India.
